Bellevue Bridge Study

Back

For decades the Bellevue Toll Bridge has been a vital link between Nebraska and Iowa south of the metro. But the future of this 69-year-old bridge is now uncertain because of changing traffic patterns. Owned and operated by the Bellevue Bridge Commission, sufficient funding exists to maintain the bridge for the foreseeable future. Replacement of the bridge will eventually become necessary and preliminary plans for a new bridge on the north side of the current structure have been designed. However, there is no current plan for the significant expense that would be required to reconstruct the bridge. This study will guide the Commission and adjacent communities to form the long-term plans for the bridge’s future.
