The Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area Planning Agency (MAPA) helps coordinate and provide assistance with issues of regional significance. As the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the region, MAPA is a a transportation policy-making organization which distributes federal funding for transportation projects and programs which are significant regionally.
In addition to transportation planning, MAPA provides assistance with strategic planning and needs assessments, grant assistance for economic development, planning efforts for environmental issues and coordinates the Heartland 2050 regional visioning project.
