The Metropolitan Area Planning Agency (MAPA) seeks public comment on an amendment to its FY2026 Transportation Improvement Program, which includes funding increases and adjustments for three projects. The public comment period for the amendment runs April 16, 2026, to April 23, 2026.

The projects include:

Funding Increase:

– City of Omaha: 42nd and Fontenelle Blvd. Roundabout; Surface Transportation Block Grant funding for project engineering and environmental review work in FY2026 and FY2028 increased from $250,000 to $300,000; $21,150 of Highway Safety Improvement Program funding programmed for right-of-way acquisition in FY2030; $1,193,860 of Highway Safety Improvement Program funding programmed in FY2030 and FY2031 for utilities construction and construction engineering.

Funding Source Change:

– City of Omaha: Signal Infrastructure Phase H1, Signals in Douglas and Sarpy Counties west of 144th Street and south of West Center Road; $420,000 in Congestion Mitigation Air Quality funding added in FY2026.

Phase Adjustment:

– City of LaVista: Thompson Creek Trail, South 69th Street to LaVista Central Park; Transportation Alternatives Program funding for project engineering and environmental review work in FY2026 and FY2028 increased from $226,800 to $417,790; Transportation Alternatives Program funding for right-of-way acquisition in FY2027 increased from $84,000 to $139,000; Funding for utilities construction and construction engineering in FY2027 adjusted from $1,218,000 to $1,039,500.

The MAPA Board of Directors meeting scheduled for 1:30 p.m. April 23, 2026, at 2222 Cuming St. Omaha, will serve as the public meeting for the amendment.
