Metropolitan Transportation Plan

Back

The Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), formerly called the Long Range Transportation Plan, is a 25-year plan which includes a list of projects to meet the future transportation needs of the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area. This is accomplished by analyzing demographic forecasts and the current conditions of all modes of transportation including highways, roads, transit, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, aviation, and passenger rail.

The 2050 MTP is a comprehensive plan projecting the transportation needs for the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area for the next 25 years. The plan takes a comprehensive approach to addressing transportation in our area, and incorporates elements from the Heartland 2050 Vision as well as the studies MAPA has completed and participated in over the past five to ten years. The plans, projections, and proposed solutions aim to increase the quality of life for area residents.

The MTP is updated every five years. In order to be eligible for federal funding, projects must be listed in the MTP.
