DRAFT 2024-2027 Civil Rights Policy

Back

The Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area Planning Agency (MAPA) is taking public comments on its Draft 2024-2027 Civil Rights Policy. The public comment period runs Dec. 12, 2024 to Jan. 6, 2025.

The Civil Rights Policy details MAPA’s policies to ensure nondiscrimination in all its programs and services, and to encourage participation for residents who have limited proficiency in English. It also outlines the procedures for submitting complaints and the steps which will be taken to address and resolve them.

In June 2020, the MAPA Board of Directors adopted an Equity Resolution to increase equitable outcomes in the Omaha-Council Bluffs region through MAPA’s work. This resolution reaffirms the agency’s commitment to an equitable and just region, and ensures that the issues of disparities, justice and racism are at the forefront as MAPA works to do more with greater intensity and focus to realize the goal of expanding true opportunity to all residents.

The Civil Rights Policy includes a summary of MAPA’s annual Equity Assessments which are presented to MAPA’s Board of Directors. The Equity Assessments score MAPA’s work in each of the eight action items included in the Equity Resolution.
