MAPA has been retained by the Council Bluffs Housing Trust Fund (CBHTF) to administer affordable housing projects.
The CBHTF is a non-profit organization that serves the housing needs of low to moderate income residents within the city of Council Bluffs.
CBHTF receives grants from the Iowa Finance Authority and other local sources. In the past, CBHTF has funded projects including single-family and multi-family housing rehabilitation and new construction.
In 2018, the Council Bluffs Housing Trust Fund awarded funding to seven community organizations including: MICAH House, Connections Area Agency on Aging, New Visions Homeless Services, Habitat for Humanity, Vocational Development Center (VODEC), Municipal Housing Agency and NeighborWorks Home Solutions.
Currently, each organization has a project that is being assisted. The projects are listed below.
- MICAH House – Renovations of existing the women’s shelter
- Connections Area Agency on Aging – Barrier removal for elderly homeowners
- New Visions Homeless Services – New flooring at the Timothy House
- Habitat for Humanity – Construction of one single-family structure
- VODEC – Bathroom renovation for the men’s residential facility
- Municipal Housing Agency – Installation of new showers in Regal Towers at Dudley Court
- NeighborWorks Home Solutions – Down payment assistance on four newly constructed homes
Organizations wanting to be considered for funding must meet the State Housing Trust Fund Program requirements and meet one or more of CBHTF’s objectives.
To qualify for affordable housing assistance, individuals must have a household income of 80 percent or lower than the median household income (MHI) of $45,204 set by the U.S. Census Bureau.
