MAPA announces 2024 Regional Awards recipients
Congratulations to Mayor Cindy Grove of Valley and Pottawattamie Conservation, recipients of MAPA’s 2024 Regional Citizenship Award and Regional Service Award, respectively!
As a recipient of MAPA’s 2024 Regional Citizenship Award, Mayor Grove is recognized for her strong leadership during times of rapid growth and change in the region.
Her instrumental role in initiatives such as the Community Collaboration Group, the comprehensive Community Needs Assessment, and the Western Douglas County Planning Collaborative has made a profound impact on the region’s well-being.
Pottawattamie Conservation is the recipient of MAPA’s 2024 Regional Service Award. Pottawattamie County, with the support of the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors, has demonstrated exemplary leadership in the conservation of unique natural resources and contributions to recreational facilities significant to the region.
The development of the Lewis & Clark Trail, the sustainably designed Heartwood Pavilion at Hitchcock Nature Center, and the enhancement of the Mt. Crescent Ski Area have each increased access to high-quality public land and recreational opportunities in the MAPA region.
The department’s efforts to connect communities with recreational trails have laid a framework for future investments to improve the quality of life of residents of and visitors to Pottawattamie County.
Mayor Grove and Pottawattamie Conservation will receive their awards on Oct. 9 at MAPA’s Council of Officials Annual meeting.
