MAPA’s  Draft 2022-2025 Civil Rights Policy is out for public comment. The public comment period runs from October 20 to December 8, 2021.

The Civil Rights Policy details MAPA’s policies to ensure nondiscrimination in all its programs and services, and to encourage participation for residents who have limited proficiency in English. It also outlines the procedures for submitting complaints and the steps that will be taken to address and resolve them.

In June 2020, the MAPA Board of Directors adopted an Equity Resolution to increase equitable outcomes in the Omaha-Council Bluffs region through MAPA’s work. This resolution reaffirms the agency’s commitment to an equitable and just region, and ensures that the issues of disparities, justice and racism are at the forefront as MAPA works to do more with greater intensity and focus to realize the goal of expanding true opportunity to all residents.

The Civil Rights Policy includes MAPA’s first Equity Assessment presented to the MAPA Board of Directors at the July 2021 Board meeting.  The Equity Assessment scores MAPA’s work in each of the eight action items included in the Equity Resolution and will be completed annually.
