MAPA is calling for projects for a variety of regional funding programs from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Project applications for the FY2022 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) funding cycle should be submitted no later than 4:30 pm on Friday, January 8, 2021.

Proceed to the program page for each funding category for additional information and to access the applications:

Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Program | Regional FHWA funding for transportation infrastructure projects. STBG funds are traditionally used for roadway maintenance and enhancement, but can also be used for bicycle, pedestrian, and transit projects.

Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) | Regional FHWA funding for trails and other bike infrastructure, pedestrian improvements and other environmental activities associated with transportation projects.

Heartland 2050 Mini-Grant Program | The Heartland 2050 Mini-Grant Program is a set-aside of funding for MAPA’s Regional Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Program. Projects funded through this program serve as a mechanism to move the Heartland 2050 Vision forward.

The Vision focuses on six goals to improve our quality of life and create a long-term vision in harmony with our people, places and resources. The goals include: Housing and Development, Infrastructure, and Natural Resources.

FTA Section 5310 Program – Enhanced Mobility of Seniors & Individuals with Disabilities | MAPA’s 5310 program provides funding for the purpose of assisting private nonprofit groups in meeting the transportation needs of older adults and people with disabilities when the transportation service provided is unavailable, insufficient, or inappropriate to meeting these needs. Local government entities are also eligible once they certify there are no private nonprofit groups providing this type of service in their area.

Project applications for the FY2022 TIP should be submitted no later than 4:30 p.m. on January 8, 2021.

Project applications and questions concerning this process may be emailed to transportation@mapacog.org also.
